<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">A two-year postdoctoral research position that focuses on
<b>Soil Carbon Biogeochemistry</b> is available in the research group of <a href="https://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/physsci/myrna-simpson">
Professor Myrna Simpson</a> at the University of Toronto (Scarborough Campus). The successful candidate will lead molecular-level studies of soil organic matter composition with long-term ecosystem manipulations (litter manipulation, soil warming and nitrogen
addition) using integrative approaches. The candidate will also have an opportunity to develop and test new methods for molecular-level studies of soil organic matter dynamics with global environmental change.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Applicants should have a strong publication record and a PhD in Biogeochemistry or Environmental Chemistry or Soil Chemistry or Organic Geochemistry
or a closely related field. Applicants should also have previous experience with characterizing soil organic matter using chemical methods. Previous NMR experience is also beneficial but not essential as candidates will receive full hands on training. Successful
candidates will have access to state-of-the-art NMR and MS equipment in the <a href="http://individual.utoronto.ca/msimpsonlab/environNMRcentre.html">
Environmental NMR Centre</a> which houses three unique, hyphenated 500MHz NMR spectrometers specially designed for environmental applications. Prof. Myrna Simpson’s research laboratory is well equipped for soil organic matter biogeochemistry research. The
MSimpsonLab research laboratory houses a fully automated LC, GC-MS, GC with preparative fraction collector, and a LC-MS/MS as well as other support equipment such as automated sample evaporator. More information about the M. Simpson research group can be
