The Department of Atmospheric and Earth Science (AES) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville is currently seeking to hire a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher and a Ph.D. student as a GRA to join our <a href="https://sites.google.com/view/huleiqiu/home/" target="_blank">urban climate research group</a>. The successful candidates will support investigations into fine-scale urban thermal environmental changes and the long-term efficacy of cooling infrastructure under heat extremes through NASA projects.<br />

<span style="color:#0e101a">As part of an interdisciplinary team, the Ph.D. student and postdoctoral researcher will collaborate with experts in atmospheric science, remote sensing, and public health from both UAH and Florida State University. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about research and interested in contributing to the field of urban climate research.</span><br />
<br />
<strong style="color:#0e101a">Requirements</strong><br />
<strong style="color:#0e101a">Postdoc position</strong><span style="color:#0e101a">: The ideal candidate should have a background in physical geography or atmospheric sciences, with a strong data analytic skillsets, such as physical modeling, or geospatial modeling and machine learning. The ideal candidate should also have research experience and training in satellite remote sensing and land-atmosphere interactions in an urban setting. Some experience with high-resolution active and/or passive remote sensing and WebGIS would be beneficial. The candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills in English. This is a 1.5-year position with the possibility of extension and is open to remote work within the USA.</span><br />

<strong style="color:#0e101a">Ph.D. position: </strong><span style="color:#0e101a">The ideal candidate should have a strong quantitative background, with training in atmospheric science, physical geography, or other related physical sciences. Familiarity with at least one programming language (R, Python, MATLAB, etc.) is highly desirable. The candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills in English.</span><br />
