looking for a scientist to join</a> an interdisciplinary team to advance understanding of fire emissions and carbon stock change associated with land management activities.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The position’s primary responsibilities include: working with other state and federal agencies on compiling, collating, and reconciling land management activity datasets into an integrated geodatabase; working with researchers to develop
 methodology for inventorying trees in natural and working lands; performing fire emission modeling; and developing methods for estimating ecosystem carbon stocks and GHG emissions associated with land management activities. The position’s work is part of CARB’s
 Natural & Working Lands Ecosystem Carbon Inventory program, which is one of the elements of accounting for the State’s carbon neutrality goal. The position’s work also feeds into air quality modeling, progress tracking of the actions under the Wildfire and
 Forest Resilience Task Force, quantification of benefits and tradeoff of land management decisions, and providing the public with fire emissions information. The position will collaborate with colleagues across CARB and other government agencies, academic
 researchers, and public stakeholders on air quality, land management, and climate change issues. Other duties include writing technical reports and documentations, preparing briefing papers, and giving presentations to staff, management, other government agencies,
 and the general public.<o:p></o:p></p>
