<div>DESCRIPTION</div>
<div>Under direct guidance of senior researcher, applies acquired skills and knowledge of applicable research discipline to support field research projects of small to medium size and intermediate scope and complexity, including but not limited to research
in environmental, public health, social or biological science disciplines. Responsible for maintaining operations notes, asset tracking systems, safety plans, and metadata documentation for the Coastal Data Information Program (CDIP). Assists CDIP managers
in preparing and executing remote location research activities through shop and field operations support.</div>

<div>QUALIFICATIONS</div>
<div>
<ul class="MailOutline">
<li>Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.</li><li>Knowledge of oceanography, physics, and fundamental principles of engineering, as pertains to measuring waves, currents, and temperature.</li><li>Working knowledge of research discipline, principles, concepts, analysis and / or operations being conducted at field / remote sites. Experience in data acquisition with oceanographic instrumentation for wave motion, water currents, and temperature.</li><li>Computer programming skills sufficient to test, integrate and adapt relevant software for record keeping and inventory purposes</li><li>Working knowledge of safety, legal, cultural and regulatory requirements relative to field research responsibility.</li><li>Working knowledge of local customs and operations at field / remote sites. Experience working on a variety of small vessels in nearshore environments for equipment deployment and recovery.</li><li>Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with remote research partners.</li><li>Demonstrates ability to work with a team, and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.</li><li>Proficient research and analytical skills.</li><li>Demonstrates attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to develop, organize and maintain paper and electronic files accurately.</li><li>PADI Open Water level dive certification, or equivalent, with ability to obtain AAUS Scientific Diving certification.</li><li>Strong communication skills with project team members. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; and ability to work with a diverse group of people at various levels, utilizingtact and diplomacy.</li><li>Ability to drive a "dually" truck and tow a trailered boat. Ability to drive a forklift. Ability to safely handle and manage heavy loads.</li><li>Has developed necessary skills to safely use a variety of hand tools and power tools.</li><li>Demonstrates ability to work in ambiguous conditions.</li></ul>
