water quality at scales from the local to the regional. The proposed research could, for instance, aim at bridging gaps between surface and subsurface waters, between water quantity and quality or elucidate the influence of extremes (e.g., droughts, flooding,
wildfires) on water quality. The investigative approach could, for example, rely on environmental tracers and isotopes; field or laboratory-scale experiments using innovative sensing technology; monitoring; numerical modeling; big data and machine learning.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop links with some of the existing research strengths at IDYST, including climate change, soil science, biogeochemistry, aquatic ecosystems, Alpine environments, and remote sensing. We welcome candidates who
