The University of California, Irvine is recruiting an Assistant
Professor
(tenure track) anchored in Earth system science with a research
focus in
Organic Geochemistry. The goal is to advance our understanding
of the complex
processes responsible for the transformation, fate, and
stability of organic
matter and its role in the Earth system. Candidates may focus on
any component
of the terrestrial and aquatic systems. Areas of interest
include redox
processes such as carbon-metal interactions,
biogeochemical/biological
transformations, carbon sequestration, or geochemistry of the
past and/or
future. Diverse scientific approaches are encouraged, for
example detailed
characterization of dissolved and particulate pools using novel
MS and/or
spectroscopic techniques coupled with compound specific studies
or C isotopes
(e.g. AMS). Candidates are
encouraged to use modelling in their research, but experimental
measurements
should be the majority of their work.
