A team from the World Bank Economic Research Unit (based in Washington DC) is conducting a study to analyze the impact of a sudden import ban on chemical fertilizer on crop yield, food prices, and welfare in Sri Lanka. As part of this project, we are
looking to hire a remote sensing specialist to predict crop yield using satellite data at village resolution at a monthly time scale. The expected output will be predicted data on yield for different types of crops from 2018 to date in Sri Lanka that will
be obtained as a combination of (i) vegetation indexes from satellite images based on remote sensing from Landsat, Airbus, or Maxar etc.<span style="color:black"> (ii) past data on high resolution crop yield to train a model predicting crop yield based on
satellite imagery (subject to availability). The candidate can work from anywhere (fully remote work).
