The Corning School of Ocean Studies at Maine Maritime Academy invites applications for an Instructor of Engineering Chemistry. Applicants must hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in chemistry, science education, or related field by August 2022, or have considerable
experience teaching advanced chemistry concepts at the high school or undergraduate level. Teaching expectations include multiple lecture and laboratory sections for a general chemistry undergraduate course for engineering majors as part of a service teaching
agreement between the Engineering and Ocean Studies departments. It is preferred that the candidate have experience with engineering applications of chemistry. The Instructor will oversee all aspects of this course, including preparing lectures, assignments,
exams, and laboratory exercises, conferring with students on course materials, maintaining the chemistry laboratory, and promoting a culture of good chemical hygiene and safety. There is a possibility that the Instructor could teach additional courses or electives
dependent on the successful candidate’s area of expertise. Instructors are expected to serve the academy community in faculty governance or other campus activities as assigned or appointed. Candidates with demonstrated teaching excellence and commitment to
