The project is located on Arkansas's free-flowing Buffalo River (<a href="https://www.nps.gov/buff/index.htm" title="https://www.nps.gov/buff/index.htm">America's first National River</a>). This is a collaborative project with Abby Langston, KSU, and her students,
where together we are looking at how the persistence of river-bounding talus piles may control rates of valley widening.</div>

The fully funded NSF research is directed towards understanding rock property controls on the size and/or volume of material generated from cliffs bordering the river. </div>

The research involves a fair amount of floating the river and characterizing fracture patterns along with other rock properties. So, prospective students should be comfortable with doing work on a river, as well as interested in collaborative science. I am
more than happy to train students on river safety and doing river-based field work. Students will always be working in teams when on the water.</div>

through Arkansas during this shameful forced removal. I welcome any opportunity to do more than this inadequate land acknowledgement and I'll continue to educate myself to reduce the burden on anyone else.</span></span></span></i><br>
