The IBS Center for Climate Physics (ICCP), directed by Prof. Axel
Timmermann, is dedicated to <br>
advancing the understanding of natural climate variability, man-made
climate change and their <br>
impacts on the hydrological cycle, regional processes, ice-sheets,
and sea level. The ICCP is <br>
generously funded through the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) (<a
class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://ibs.re.kr">http://ibs.re.kr</a>).
ICCP is located <br>
in Busan, the second largest city in South Korea and the ninth
largest port city in the world. <br>
Surrounded by the ocean and mountains, the city has a dramatic
natural background. From <br>
designer cafes, international movie and art festivals, award-winning
restaurants to temples <br>
at the end of hiking trails, Busan has something to offer for
everyone.<br>

href="http://climatesystem.pusan.ac.kr">http://climatesystem.pusan.ac.kr</a>)<br>
The Department of the Climate System was established to educate the
next generation of <br>
scientists in integrated climate system science. The department
combines physical climate <br>
science with socio-economic aspects, with a particular emphasis on
urban areas. Students <br>
have the opportunity to learn about the underlying dynamics,
interactions and predictability <br>
of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, and biosphere and its
interactions with society <br>
by using multi-disciplinary approaches. Students have the
opportunity to take classes in a <br>
wide variety of topics such as atmospheric sciences, oceanography,
geology, computer science, <br>
physics, chemistry, biology, statistics, urban engineering,
humanities and social sciences <br>
including policy making. <br>
