in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, & Organismal Biology at Iowa State University has an opening for a postdoc scholar in Terrestrial Ecosystem Modeling. We are seeking an individual to work on analysis and modeling of terrestrial carbon and nutrient
cycling in coupled human-natural systems. The successful candidate will participate in an interdisciplinary research team that constrains ecosystem model simulations with lab incubations, high-frequency in-situ measurements, and long-term experimental data.
The postdoc scholar is expected to independently test, improve, and implement the process-based land ecosystem models to quantify agricultural carbon sequestration, greenhouse gas (GHG, such as CO2, CH4, and N2O) fluxes, and GHG mitigation potentials. The
specific duties include cross-scale data synthesis, model improvement, simulation, data-model integration, and/or application of machine learning or artificial intelligence. The postdoc will be encouraged to pursue new research direction (e.g., participate
