seeking qualified candidates for the position of Water Quality Planner II to support the Field Hydrology group in the Science Section of King County Water and Land Resources Division in the Natural Resources and Parks Department The Science Section's mission
is to provide scientific knowledge, information, and analysis in support of regional environmental resource management. Our staff lead and carry out studies in applied environmental sciences, run monitoring programs, deliver specialized scientific and technical
services, and inform evidence-based policies and regulations. We partner with other science agencies around Puget Sound, such as the Washington Department of Ecology, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, University of Washington, and others. Learn more
at our <span style="color:#0000ED">website</span>. The field hydrology program is composed of an interdisciplinary group of hydrologists, engineers, geologists, and ecologists. This program oversees installation and maintenance of an extensive network of continuous
recording monitoring stations located in streams, rivers, lakes, wetlands, and stormwater facilities throughout King County and neighboring jurisdictions. The person in this position will be responsible for carrying out remote and onsite data collection, troubleshooting,
analyzing and reporting water quantity (surface and groundwater), water quality, rain data, and presenting results to clients inside and outside the County. They will participate in using and maintaining the Hydrologic Information Center (HIC) data management
system which provides internal and external access to hydrologic data collected at King County sites.

the Hydrologic Information Center (HIC) data management system) for surface water and groundwater data. Carry out surface water and groundwater data analyses. Carry out fish and habitat surveys. Prepare hydrologic reports and memos for clients. Prepare scopes
of work and standard operating procedures for projects. Prepare statistical approaches and experimental designs and prepare sampling-analysis plans (SAPS) for water quality, water quantity, and natural resources technical studies. Use GPS and GIS as data mapping
and analytical tools. Negotiate and plan projects with clients. Provide technical oversight, review, and input on projects, programs, contracts, and consultant products related to hydrology and habitat assessments.
