They will work together with a hydro-climate team in the Research Applications Lab at NCAR. One will focus more on high-resolution regional simulations (link 1 below) using a simplified atmospheric model (ICAR), the other will focus more on the evaluation of different approaches to downscaling climate data for applications (link 2), including ICAR, WRF and statistical approaches. Both scientists will have the opportunity to work with stakeholders in the water management sector and and engage with the broader community of scientists at NCAR and beyond. </div><div><br class=""></div><div>More information at the links below. </div><div><br class=""></div><div>(1)</div><div><a href="https://ucar.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/UCAR_Careers/job/Foothills-Lab-2/Postdoc-Fellow-I---Regional-Hydroclimate-Downscaling-for-Extreme-Events_REQ-2021-297-1" class="">https://ucar.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/UCAR_Careers/job/Foothills-Lab-2/Postdoc-Fellow-I---Regional-Hydroclimate-Downscaling-for-Extreme-Events_REQ-2021-297-1</a></div><div><br class=""></div><div>(2)</div><div><a href="https://ucar.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/UCAR_Careers/job/Foothills-Lab-2/Postdoc-Fellow-I---Evaluation-of-Regional-Climate-Downscaling-Approaches_REQ-2021-296-1" class="">https://ucar.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/UCAR_Careers/job/Foothills-Lab-2/Postdoc-Fellow-I---Evaluation-of-Regional-Climate-Downscaling-Approaches_REQ-2021-296-1</a></div><div><br class=""></div><div><br class=""></div><div class=""><span style="font-size: 12px;" class="">-------------------------------------</span></div><div class=""><div class=""><div dir="auto" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; line-break: after-white-space;" class=""><div dir="auto" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; line-break: after-white-space;" class=""><div dir="auto" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; line-break: after-white-space;" class=""><div dir="auto" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; line-break: after-white-space;" class=""><div dir="auto" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; line-break: after-white-space;" class=""><div dir="auto" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; line-break: after-white-space;" class=""><span style="font-size: 12px;" class="">Ethan Gutmann (he/him/his)<br class="">Hydrometeorological Applications Program<br class="">Research Applications Lab<br class="">National Center for Atmospheric Research<br class="">-------------------------------------<br class=""><a href="mailto:gutmann@ucar.edu" class="">gutmann@ucar.edu</a><br class=""></span></div><div dir="auto" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; line-break: after-white-space; font-size: 9px;" class="">My working day may not be your working day.
