<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Position:</b> We seek a creative and dynamic colleague who will (i) establish a strong and vibrant research program that complements and strengthens our existing research activities, and (ii) excel in teaching core undergraduate and
graduate geoscience courses in their area of expertise. The ideal candidate will have a strong record of publication, potential to garner research funding, demonstrable teaching experience, and the ability to mentor diverse domestic and international students,
both undergraduate and graduate. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Qualifications:</b> The candidate must possess an earned Ph.D. in geosciences or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the time of appointment. A demonstrable record of active research and publication is required.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Responsibilities:</b> The ideal candidate will support the research mission of the department by leading a vibrant externally funded research program, publishing in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals, and supervising undergraduate
and graduate student researchers. We seek a colleague who will contribute to the educational mission of the department by teaching core undergraduate and graduate geology classes (e.g., Physical Geology, Earth Materials, Geochemistry, Sedimentology & Stratigraphy,
Structural Geology, Geomorphology, Glacial Geology, etc.). The ideal hire will also be able to leverage potential collaborations with the Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education (MGRRE) and the Michigan Geological Survey (MGS), as well as
existing instrumentation and facilities in the department. This is a full-time, academic year position at the WMU campus in Kalamazoo, MI.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Department: </b>The Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences, which is comprised of 11 faculty members, is research-active and nationally ranked. The department confers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, and graduate and undergraduate
certificates. The disciplinary strengths of the department include hydrogeology, remote sensing/geophysics, basin analysis, sedimentary geology, geochemistry, and environmental and resource analysis. The Hydrogeology Field Course offered each summer is internationally
acclaimed. The department is home to a collection of analytical equipment and research facilities, including but not limited to a scanning electron microscope, x-ray diffractometer, drones, remote sensing and geophysical equipment, x-ray fluorescence analyzer,
a triple isotope liquid water analyzer, and a multiple collector stable isotope ratio mass spectrometer. Also housed within the department is the Michigan Geological Survey (MGS), which supports and advocates for applied research and mapping within the State
of Michigan, and the Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education (MGRRE), which houses the largest collection of subsurface samples and data related to both hydrocarbon and water resources in the region. Learn more at
