The Mercer University School of Engineering (MUSE) invites applications for a tenure-track, faculty position in Environmental & Civil Engineering, starting August 2022. The ideal candidate will have expertise and scholarly interests in water/wastewater treatment,
modeling wastewater treatment and water distribution systems, biosolids treatment, bioremediation, and water chemistry or expertise and interests in indoor/outdoor air pollution and atmospheric chemistry and modeling. Priority will be given to motivated individuals
who can connect contemporary water and wastewater issues or air pollution issues to regional, national, and global public health outcomes. The position requires a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and master’s level, integrating
service and research, and scholarship focused on the institution’s educational mission. Mercer Engineering uses a core curriculum model and we would expect this faculty member to periodically teach fundamental engineering courses such as introduction to freshmen
design and senior design capstone, among others. The ideal candidate should also have the ability to support Mercer University’s signature Mercer on Mission Program (<a href="http://mom.mercer.edu/"><span style="color:#0563C1">http://mom.mercer.edu/</span></a>),
which offers faculty unique opportunities to develop and lead sustainable international service and research projects, carried out with Mercer students and host-community collaborators.

Mercer’s undergraduate engineering program is ABET/EAC accredited under “General Engineering.” The School of Engineering offers both Bachelor and Master of Science in Engineering degrees with specializations in biomedical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental,
industrial, and mechanical, as well as engineering related programs in technical communications, industrial management, and environmental systems. An undergraduate minor and graduate concentration in engineering for development are also offered. The undergraduate
curriculum is dynamic, innovative, broadly based, and includes the option of an integrated BSE/MSE degree program for qualified candidates. Total engineering enrollment is over 800 students. Mercer’s Environmental & Civil Engineering Department attracts a
diverse group of students, many of whom are involved in research. The department is a leader in student awards/recognition, including one recent student being named the Engineering student of the year by the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers, and four
students in the department receiving the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship over the past five years (leading the nation among Civil/Environmental departments during this period).<o:p></o:p></p>
