Laboratory in the Department of Earth Sciences at IUPUI invites applications
for an NSF-funded Ph.D. graduate assistantship in tropical paleoclimatology
starting Fall 2022. The successful candidate will be advised by Dr. Broxton
Bird and work closely with other faculty in the Department of Earth Sciences as
well as with colleagues from collaborating institutions. The project will
specifically focus on the sedimentological and geochemical analysis of sediment
cores collected from Lake Tota, a large tectonic lake in the eastern Colombian
Andes. The objective of the project is to reconstruct Holocene effective moisture variability in the northern tropical Andes and investigate its relationship with long-term and abrupt changes in radiative
forcing. </span></p>
