A postdoctoral research fellow appointment focused on modeling and analyses of global atmospheric chemistry and climate is available in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
This is a one-year appointment with the potential for renewal, pending external research grant funding. This Postdoctoral Research Associate position is aimed at working with Professor Donald Wuebbles. This position entails state-of-the-art research studies
with the CESM and WACCM models for studies of the impacts of human activities (e.g., emissions from aircraft, rockets, new chemicals) for their impacts on tropospheric and stratospheric composition and corresponding effects on climate forcing. The person accepted
should have experience in atmospheric chemistry and climate modeling, analyses of the resulting impacts on atmospheric composition and climate, and experience in running large simulations on high performance computing environments.
Experience with acquisition and analysis of reanalysis and climate model datasets is also required.

Although the appointee will be interacting with experts in modeling of atmospheric chemistry and physics, and climate analyses, he or she should also be able to conduct research responsibilities independently.
Nonetheless, the appointee can be expected to receive regular guidance and mentoring. The salary is $55,000 plus benefits from the University. Along with the recommended qualifications mentioned above, it is essential that the candidate has received a Ph.D.
in Atmospheric Sciences or in a closely related field. Other highly desirable qualifications include excellent written and oral communication. The position is available immediately, but applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.
