<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:105%">We seek a Postdoctoral researcher to work on a newly funded project that will couple experimental observations and model predictions of permafrost carbon dynamics and biogeochemical cycling.
This exciting project aims to improve understanding and model predictability of one of the most rapidly changing aspects of the terrestrial biosphere, and one that has large implications for climate change. The position will be based in the Center of Ecosystem
Science and Society at Northern Arizona University, host to the Permafrost Carbon Network and a wide range of ongoing ecosystem studies in the Arctic.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:105%">The successful candidate will synthesize observations and analyses from high-latitude warming experiments, develop functional benchmarks based on these observations, prepare simulation protocols
for an ensemble of land models, evaluate model output and performance, and engage with the modeling community by organizing workshops and regular conference calls. The proposed work will be facilitated by a series of virtual and in-person meetings. Community
engagement will be an integral aspect of the proposed work as we will leverage the science community to actively participate and contribute data and model resources throughout the project. The position will provide the successful candidate the opportunity
to collaborate with a large international group of observational, experimental, and modeling scientists. The candidate should have prior knowledge and experience in high-latitude processes, experiments, observations, and/or modeling, and a desire to learn
new skills. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:105%">Candidates with a background in Earth System Modeling, Ecosystem modeling, Biogeochemistry, Ecosystem Ecology, or similar fields are encouraged to apply. Experience with managing large datasets,
workshop organization, and good communication skills are essential. Programming skills in R, Python, Matlab, or similar are required.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
