to the large wildfire crisis in the western US</span></b><b><span style="font-size:11pt">. </span></b><span style="font-size:11pt">We seek a postdoctoral
research associate to project future fire and forest dynamics in the western US
with a state-of-the-art simulation model. Specifically, the postdoctoral
associate will conduct literature review and interact with fire managers to
identify bold strategies for managing 21<sup>st</sup> century fire in the
western US; conduct simulations to evaluate the outcomes of those strategies
over decadal to centennial horizons; analyze and interpret model output; and
communicate research orally and through peer-reviewed journal articles. This project
is funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and will include
opportunities to interact and collaborate with scientists at Columbia
University and UCLA. The successful candidate will be provided resources for
travel related to the project and will have opportunities for professional

ecology, social-science of fire, social-ecological modeling, or a related field
prior to appointment. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the
management of social-ecological systems, demonstrated past experience
interacting with forest or fire managers, and should be comfortable with
scenarios-based analyses of potential futures. Experience working with the
outputs of ecosystem or landscape simulations and analyzing datasets in R or
