The successful candidate will formulate idealized models that emphasize these relationships, then use those models to explore how changes in the reflectivity of low clouds, due to anthropogenic climate change and/or deliberate manipulation, will affect the chemical environment. The idealized models will also be used to explore aspects of climate sensitivity.

We seek an atmospheric/climate scientist or atmospheric chemist with experience or interests in one or more of the following: the use and development model hierarchies, especially those developed from models of the global atmosphere; the representation of shallow oceanic clouds including stratocumulus in global models; modeling and/or observations of gas-phase atmospheric chemistry, especially as they pertain to methane lifetimes. Experience using idealized versions of the NCAR Community Earth System Model is an advantage, as is experience with chemical mechanisms.
