Carnegie Mellon University is seeking two postdoctoral researchers to work on 3-year funded projects related to aerosol-cloud-climate interactions.
<div class="">
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">One position is to study the interaction of smoke aerosols with clouds and climate using large ensembles of climate model simulations. Depending on the experience and preferences of the person hired for this position, we are also interested to
develop advanced statistical techniques to constrain the ensembles. </div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">The other position is to study and characterise aerosol interactions with extra-tropical cyclone clouds and the effects of the clouds on aerosols. Both positions involve atmospheric modeling and/or analysis of model data, and analysis of pre-existing
observation datasets. </div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">These positions are to work in the research group of Hamish Gordon, collaborating extensively within the Center for Atmospheric Particle Studies at CMU (<a href="https://particulate-matter.cmu.edu/" class="">https://particulate-matter.cmu.edu/</a>)
and with national and international partners.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">Applicants should have or be close to completing a PhD in atmospheric science, meteorology, environmental or related engineering, computer science or statistics; applicants with strong numerical skills from other disciplines will also be considered.<br class="">
<br class="">
The closing date for applications for both positions is 20 September. </div>
