Geophysics And Remote Sensing (CryoGARS) group at Boise State University has an
opportunity for a graduate student to conduct NSF-funded interdisciplinary
research that aims to further understand and map freshwater fluxes from
Greenland. The research will incorporate a variety of remote sensing datasets
to develop next-generation estimates of iceberg discharge, melt rates, and
freshwater fluxes to Greenland's fjords and coastal regions. </span><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;background-image:initial;background-position:initial;background-size:initial;background-repeat:initial;background-origin:initial;background-clip:initial">The project also incorporates
outreach and science communication activities, including working with an artist
to develop iceberg imagery to inspire the public and iceberg melt
demonstrations for grade-school students.</span><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> </span><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:black">Research will be performed in collaboration with Dr. Twila Moon at
the National Snow and Ice Data Center and Dr. Dustin Carroll at Moss Landing
Marine Laboratories. Through this work, the student will gain expertise in
glaciology, coastal oceanography, and working with both observations and

range of topics, including but not limited to computer science, physics,
applied mathematics, geography, oceanography, and earth sciences. The
professional development of the student will be supported through a variety of
research and engagement activities. The fully-funded student position is
