research assistant position leading to an M.S. or Ph.D. in meteorology at
Florida State University (FSU). The 3-yr
research effort will be funded by NASA’s Atmospheric Composition Campaign Data
Analysis and Modeling Program. The project involves combining
well-established and advanced modeling with NASA-sponsored aircraft and
satellite observations to answer fundamental scientific questions about deep
convective trace gas transport.
Specifically, the project involves synthesizing aircraft measurements
from DC3 and SEAC4RS, data assimilation, WRF-Chem modeling, and WRF large-eddy
simulations to study chemical transport in thunderstorms. In addition to the thesis/dissertation
resulting from the research, the student must satisfy FSU’s additional standard
requirements to earn the M.S. or Ph.D. degrees. The student will be advised by
Dr. Henry Fuelberg, and Dr. Nick Heath will also serve as an outside committee
member.
