is a prestigious private university in Chile. Founded as a business school in 1953, in 1988, it started operating as a university. At present, it has 12,400 students in 8 different schools located on two campuses: one in Santiago, the capital city of Chile,
and the other in the coastal city of Viña del Mar. The FES is one of the leading schools of engineering in Chile, and it has experienced rapid growth over the last ten years. It has about 4,000 students and more than 100 full-time faculty. The FES offers 7

its continuing effort to contribute to Chile’s development, the FES at UAI started in 2021 an Earth Sciences group with a focus on increasing Chile’s sustainability and resilience. Its current members are Professors Javier Lopatin and Cristian Martinez-Villalobos.
Continuing with the development plan for this group we are now seeking applications for up to two open rank faculty positions in the general area of climate change modeling and monitoring. A topic of interest is the exploitation of satellite and remote sensing
data to monitor and better characterize societal relevant resources such as water reservoirs, vegetation properties, Andean cryosphere, land use change, air quality, and Land-Ocean-Atmosphere systems. We are particularly interested in applications from candidates
working in soil-vegetation atmosphere interactions, and hydrological and climate modeling. Additionally, we are interested in developing modeling capabilities to examine and simulate the impact climate change will have on Chilean ecosystems and society. Candidates
should have a demonstrated potential or ability to pursue a high impact research program, and are expected to apply to external funding through research grants.</span><br>

and multinational funding organizations, and participate in outreach activities. FES also encourages and welcomes technological transfer and research in collaboration with the industry and the government. The salary depends on the qualifications of the chosen
candidate. As a reference, a starting Assistant Professor should expect a monthly remuneration ranging between $3.000.000 to $4.000.000 CLP before taxes (US$ 50.000 - US$ 67.000 annual salary approximately). This salary does not include potential stipends
