The Blaszczak Watershed Biogeochemistry and Stream Ecosystem Ecology Lab at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is looking for a Ph.D. student to join the lab at the start of the Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 semester. The student will be funded to collect field

 data and develop models to understand and forecast cyanotoxin production by cyanobacteria in rivers in northern California (the Eel, Russian, and Klamath river basins). While field work (including kayaking) will be a major component of the funded project,

 candidates of all physical abilities are encouraged to apply. The student will work with an interdisciplinary group of stakeholders in partnership with local non-profits as well as state and tribal agencies.

<div>The Blaszczak Lab studies the transport and transformation of nutrients, carbon, and contaminants through watersheds and the streams that drain them. We use a combination of field, laboratory, and modeling approaches to understand controls on water quality,

 ecosystem function, and greenhouse gas emissions from aquatic ecosystems draining human-dominated landscapes.</div>

<div>The ideal candidate for the position has previous research (lab and/or field) and data analysis experience (e.g., R, statistics coursework), is highly self-motivated, and has a strong interest in being a part of a collaborative team.  See the Opportunities
