<pre class=""><font face="Times New Roman" class=""><span lang="X-NONE" class="">The </span>Cooperative Institute for Modeling the Earth System (CIMES)<span lang="X-NONE" class=""> at Princeton University</span>,<span lang="X-NONE" class=""> in cooperation with NOAA's Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL)</span>,<span lang="X-NONE" class=""> seeks </span>a <span lang="X-NONE" class="">postdoctoral or more senior </span>scientist <span lang="X-NONE" class="">for research related to modeling and understanding </span>the causes of observed multi-decadal to century-scale trends of precipitation at regional-to-global scales. A prominent issue with simulated precipitation in current climate models is the inability of the models to reproduce observed strong rising trends in precipitation since 1900 over middle and higher latitude land regions around the globe. The position will be focused specifically on improved understanding of the physical mechanisms responsible for biases in NOAA/GFDL models. Analysis of existing and new numerical simulations will further document the biases and will focus on testing potential mechanisms for explaining them. </font></pre>
