<p class="MsoNormal">The position is open for Denver, CO and Waltham, MA. We are seeking folks with at least an MS (PhD highly preferred) in a geoscience-related field and with experience in programming/software, particularly in pangeo-based python packages
 such as xarray and dask.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Description</b>:<br>
You will leverage your deep knowledge of climate and earth systems as well as analytical expertise to provide insights to clients, strengthen our core client product offerings, and disseminate climate-related insights via internally and externally published
 articles and visualizations. You’ll spend half your time solving specific business problems on client projects (either remotely or on site) and the other half developing new, or improving upon existing, products for the climate analytics team.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Qualifications</b>:<o:p></o:p></p>

<li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Graduate degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, climate/earth systems science, hydrology, civil/environmental engineering, astrophysics, or similar fields. PhD/postdoc highly
 preferred.<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Experience working with climate models (e.g., CMIP5 GCMs, RCMs, etc.), ensemble analysis, uncertainty quantification<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Preferred modeling experience in flood/hydrological modeling, bias correction/downscaling methods, climate impact assessments<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Knowledge in climate risk assessment, extreme events analysis<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Ability to work with large, multi-dimensional data (e.g. netCDF, GRIB, TIFF files)<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Python knowledge, experience with xarray and knowledge of basic software engineering principles highly preferred<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Experience working with Linux and command line scripting and familiarity with cloud computing highly preferred<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Self-management skills and ability to work as part of an Agile team<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Strong multitasking and parallel development abilities<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Strong analytical and problem-solving skills paired with the ability to develop creative and efficient solutions<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Strong interpersonal communication skills<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Creative, naturally curious, and willing to take intellectual risks<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Able to work under competing, quickly-changing priorities, manage expectations effectively and support the team under pressure<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Willingness to travel up to 50% (will likely travel 20-40%) after current McKinsey COVID-related travel restrictions are lifted<o:p></o:p></li></ul>
