We seek to hire an observational seismologist who specializes in topics including, but not limited to: earthquake source processes, multi-hazard early detection algorithm development, ground motion prediction, seismic hazard assessment, and artificial intelligence/machine learning applied to seismology. Applicants must have a PhD at the time of appointment and demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate and graduate education in seismology and the development of an externally funded research program. Ideal candidates will pursue cutting-edge research applying the NSL regional data archive and complementary datasets to understand earthquake processes, and participate in leadership to facilitate the operations and continued development of NSL’s real-time multi-hazard monitoring networks. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>This is a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track, continuing appointment with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2021. NSL operates a network of more than 200 seismic stations that contribute to the Advanced National Seismic System and ShakeAlert through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Geological Survey and regularly participates in Department of Energy National Laboratory based research programs on the Nevada National Security Site in southern Nevada.
