student can work with a range of ground-based (terrestrial laser scanning, TLS),
UAS, airborne and spaceborne lidar to understand forest and shrub vegetation
structure and functional characteristics and their distribution across mid- and
high-latitude ecosystems. The student will have the opportunity to develop
their own study ranging from understanding the interactions between vegetation
and snow, carbon/water/nutrient storage and flux, as well as controls on
vegetation and snow distributions, and using Earth System Models and remote
sensing observations to study these controls. The project is funded by NASA. The
student is expected to work with a team of scientists and perform field work. </span></p>
