<p class="MsoNormal">Successful candidate will work on a NASA-funded project on land surface snow albedo as influenced by the interaction between snow vegetation canopy structure in high latitude boreal regions.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>The project will require modeling effort and remote sensing data analysis. The postdoctoral researcher will work with a snow radiative transfer model coupled with a geometric-optical radiative transfer (GORT) canopy model in the GISS GCM’s demographic
dynamic global vegetation model, the Ent Terrestrial Biosphere Model (Ent TBM) to evaluate the integrated snow-vegetation radiative transfer physics. The candidate will conduct off-line and coupled model experiments to analyze the impact of vegetation heterogeneity
and snow properties on surface albedo-climate feedbacks.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">

<p class="MsoNormal">The remote sensing effort includes analyzing the interplay between vegetation and snow using observed surface albedo and snow cover and water, a vegetation structure dataset developed from ICESat/GLAS, and a forthcoming version of the vegetation
dataset with increasingly complex community structure at high spatial resolution derived from ICESat-2 and GEDI data.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Successful candidate will work on a NASA funded project to examine how specification of vegetation canopy heterogeneity observed by the Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) mission improves our ability to predict carbon stocks
and fluxes, surface albedo and community dynamics of a demographic Dynamic Global Vegetation Model DGVM (dDGVM), the Ent Terrestrial Biosphere Models (Ent TBM),<o:p></o:p></p>
