research project aims to explore the structural properties of materials under high pressure and temperature (<i>PT</i>) conditions in 3D, using X-ray diffraction-contrast computed tomography which has recently been developed at the APS. This position will
involve a considerable amount of experimental laboratory work including DAC alignment, micron-sized sample manipulation, laser-drilling, high PT materials synthesis using infrared laser and/or resistive heating. The main focus of the characterization work
will be on x-ray diffraction-based computed tomography, but it will also include other physical measurements including Raman scattering and electrical resistivity as needed.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
