The main goals of the program are <b>broadening participation in the environmental workforce</b> and community-engaged environmental research<b><span> </span></b>in and around Baltimore Harbor. We are now accepting application for our first cohort that will begin in the <b>Fall 2021</b>. For full consideration, applications should be submitted by Jan. 1, 2021. </p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0px">Student Benefits Include:</p><ul type="disc"><li class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 15px"> $34,000 annual stipend, full tuition coverage & health insurance (6 students per year).</li><li class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 15px"> Up to $7,500 in research expenses.</li><li class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 15px"> Mentoring and networking with potential employers across the environmental sector. </li></ul><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0px">Graduate students in our program will follow a two year schedule that includes a series of professional and disciplinary courses, plus a research project that will comprise their master’s thesis. For the research project, students will be mentored by a team that includes at least one faculty member and one partner practitioner working on projects related to Baltimore Harbor and surrounding environments. </p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0px">Students should apply to any of the four main departments at UMBC affiliated with the program: Biological Sciences; Chemical, Biochemical and Environmental Engineering; Geography and Environmental Systems; or Marine Biotechnology.
