A postdoctoral research fellow appointment focused on climate downscaling analyses is available in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This is a one-year appointment with the potential for renewal, pending
external research grant funding. This Postdoctoral Research Associate position is aimed at working with Professor Donald Wuebbles. This position entails state-of-the-art research studies using a new statistical downscaling approach that initially will be applied
to North America. The resulting downscaled climate datasets will also be applied to initial climate risk and resilience analyses. The person accepted should have experience in analysis of weather or climate datasets and preferably some experience in climate
modeling. Experience in using Matlab and the R model are highly recommended – these are essential tools in the downscaling applications. Experience with acquisition and analysis of climate model output is also required.

Although the appointee will be interacting with experts in statistical downscaling and climate analyses, he or she should also be able to conduct research responsibilities independently. Nonetheless, the appointee can be expected to receive regular guidance
and mentoring. The salary is $55,000 plus benefits from the University. Along with the recommended qualifications mentioned above, it is essential that the candidate has received a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences or in a closely related field. Other highly desirable
qualifications include excellent written and oral communication. The position is available immediately, but applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.
