Description:
We seek a postdoc to join our team at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to develop new ODE/DAE solvers specialized to multiphase chemistry systems and targeted at future exascale computing platforms. This is part of an interdisciplinary NSF project in collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and the National Center of Atmospheric Research, to create next-generation atmospheric aerosol models for both climate change and human health applications. This work will involve algorithm development and analysis, developing software in collaboration with domain scientists, and presenting results in scientific publications and meetings.

Requirements:
Basic qualifications for this position include a PhD within the last 3 years in computer science, applied math, computational sciences or related fields; knowledge of numerical differential equation solvers; demonstrated coding experience on large scale parallel machines; proven experience in parallel programming in high-level languages, such as Python, C/C++, MPI and CUDA; and excellent written and oral communication skills.

This position is for 1 year and renewable for up to 3 years. Applicants should send a CV, the names of two references, and a brief statement of research interests to Prof. Matthew West (mwest at illinois.edu). The position is available immediately. Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is possible to start the position remotely.
