Position objectives will include assisting in shore-side development and maintenance of marine scientific equipment, including but not limited to oceanographic moorings, sediment sampling devices, and various sensors, as well as scientific tasks in the Marine and Geology Repository and Paleomagnetic Laboratory including splitting and processing cores and basic scientific analyses such as sediment grain-size. This position will also assist in the logistics associated with supporting sea-going expeditions nationally and internationally (i.e. shipping, customs forms, liaising with shipping agents, etc). At sea, position objectives will include overseeing safe deployment and recovery of various oceanographic equipment including, but not limited to, moorings, marine sediment sampling devices, and CTDs. The position will also be responsible for collecting and managing instrument and underway data as necessary. The position will be involved in processing and interpretation of collected data, and will be expected to contribute to the scientific endeavor from the development of experiments through the interpretation, publication, and presentation of results.

Detailed knowledge of jumbo piston coring operations.
Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Familiarity with the scientific method, presentation and publication of scientific results.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
