Apply your Software Engineering skills to create and maintain research
software for environmental data processing and analysis, numerical
modeling, and machine learning workflows on a collaborative
multi-disciplinary team.  You will help maintain and develop software tools
that answer complex science and engineering questions. Your day-to-day will
include writing efficient, readable, and well-documented code, helping in
the design of software and projects, and supporting scientists with tools
and data needs. You will embrace a highly collaborative approach while also
being able to work independently with minimal supervision.



Our team finds hidden insights in messy data from physical systems, using
advanced analysis, numerical models, and machine learning.  Our software
stack is mostly python, but does include the use of Google Compute Engine
and Docker.



Duties include:


   - Design, develop, and implement software solutions and data processing
   pipelines to address research and development needs
   - Collaborate with physical scientists, engineers, and programmers to
   define requirements, develop, and execute plans
   - Maintain and improve the performance of existing software
   - Clearly and regularly communicate with technical colleagues
   - Occasionally work on site in Transcend’s Bethel, VT facility



Minimum Requirements:

   - BS or MS in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or
   a related field
   - 3+ years software development or programming experience



Experience and Skills Sought:

   - Facility with Python (numpy, pandas, matplotlib, Scikit-Learn)
   - Ability to work independently on multiple concurrent projects
   - Attentiveness to details, documentation, and version control
   - Familiarity with JSON, HDF5, OpenCV, Docker, and Google Cloud Platform
   are a plus
