We are piloting a novel post-doctoral program at Harvey Mudd College with a focus on expanding the capacity for colleges and universities to offer computational courses (e.g. introductory computer science). The idea is to bring in postdocs from non-CS fields who have significant computational expertise, and to mentor them in teaching in both their home discipline and in CS. There are a number of faculty members at HMC whose research area includes computational methods or connects to computational approaches, and it is through this program that I am hiring one postdoc.

Details can be found here: https://www.hmc.edu/research/grant-resources-administration/pic/ <https://www.hmc.edu/research/grant-resources-administration/pic/>
This is a non-traditional position, with substantial teaching opportunities as well as mentorship along two axes (teaching and research) from two different faculty. Applicants should be interested in teaching and research, and should have significant computational expertise from their doctoral work. I am particularly interested in hiring someone with experience in regional air quality modeling or in modeling radiative forcing from light-absorbing aerosol in either regional or global models, but anyone with expertise in computational approaches related to atmospheric chemistry and interest in teaching is welcome to apply.

Notably, the position is well funded ($75k/year) and includes funding for travel and hiring undergraduates during summer months, as well as a week-long workshop on inclusive pedagogy hosted at HMC.

Please feel free to share this call widely. We are hoping to begin reviewing applications toward the end of January, though the window to apply will not close until I have hired someone. Interested applicants are invited to contact me directly at lhawkins at g.hmc.edu <mailto:lhawkins at g.hmc.edu> with any questions.
