Northwestern University: Ubben Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Climate and Sustainability Science

We seek a post-doctoral research fellow with experience and interest in investigating solutions to society’s sustainability and climate change challenges. Northwestern’s Ubben Interdisciplinary Program in Climate and Carbon Science provides fellows with two years of research freedom, funds for travel, conferences, and publications, and the potential to collaborate with NU researchers across engineering, natural, and social science fields.

The chosen Fellow will sit in the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences, thus some methodological overlap with EPS faculty is desired. However, the research focus of the fellow is self-determined. Topics of particular interest to the Ubben Program include transportation, energy, green infrastructure, water security, carbon sequestration, and other emerging technologies that fit within the context of climate change and sustainability challenges. Fellows should be interested in building a better understating of the linkages, interactions, and impacts of existing and/or future human systems with the greater Earth system.

Review of applications will begin on March 1, 2020. Candidates must have a PhD by the start date. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Questions about the position can be addressed to earth at northwestern.edu<mailto:earth at northwestern.edu>. Candidate application packages should be emailed with the subject “Ubben postdoc” to earth at northwestern.edu<mailto:earth at northwestern.edu> with the following materials: a cover letter, a statement of research interests, experiences, and objectives, a CV, and a list of three references with e-mail addresses. Northwestern University is an EO/AA employer. NU is dedicated to the goal of building a culturally diverse university committed to researching, teaching, and working in a multicultural environment. NU and the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences strongly encourage applications from underrepresented and minority communities.
