Dear Colleagues,

I am looking for a postdoc to join my group at University of Montreal to
lead a research project that will study the impacts of climate change on
air quality in Quebec, Canada. The hire could also be made at the (more
senior) research scientist level for someone who already has postdoc
experience. Please see the ad below and share with people who may be
interested.

Thank you!
Patrick Hayes

Postdoctoral Scholar or Research Scientist Position in Air Quality Modeling

DESCRIPTION: Professor Patrick Hayes’ research group, in the Department of
Chemistry at University of Montreal, is currently seeking to hire a
postdoctoral scholar or a PhD-level research scientist to lead a research
project on air quality modeling as part of a larger study to understand the
impacts of climate change on air quality in Quebec. The successful
candidate will have the opportunity to conduct interdisciplinary research
on topics such as urban air pollution, chemistry-climate interactions, as
well as source apportionment. The position is renewable for up to five
years. As such, the hire can be made at either the postdoctoral scholar
level or, for a more experienced candidate, at the research scientist
level. The salary will be commensurate with the level of experience.
University
of Montreal is ranked among Canada’s top three research universities, and
living in the city of Montreal has many academic, financial and cultural
advantages, including the presence of four major universities and a
relatively low cost of living.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*:* (1) A Ph.D. degree in atmospheric science,
chemistry, physics or a closely related field; (2) Substantial experience
in 3-D chemical transport modeling; (3) A strong motivation to contribute
to interdisciplinary research and work with a diverse set of stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (1) Experience using GEOS-Chem, including running
the model, coding and debugging, and analyzing output; (2) Experience
running and analyzing back-trajectory calculations using FLEXPART or
similar models; (3) French proficiency is desirable but not required.

APPLICATION: Applicants should send a CV, the names of two references, and
a brief statement of research interests to Prof. Hayes (
patrick.hayes at umontreal.ca). Priority consideration will be given to
applications submitted on or before May 1st, 2020. The appointment will
begin in summer 2020. Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is possible
to start the position remotely.
