 A MS in Environmental Science opportunity is available with the Felix Research Group in the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.  As part of a collaboration with a nonprofit group, Coastal Alliance for Protecting our Environment (CAPE), our research group will be helping the local community monitor air quality in San Patricio County, TX. The community continues to express concern about the current lack of air quality monitoring and the potential adverse effects associated with planned industrial expansion.  The monitoring project’s primary objectives are to calibrate low-cost monitoring sensors with federal equivalent methods and provide citizens with a baseline of NOx, SOx, VOCs, particulate matter and ozone levels in their region. The position will involve training during sensor calibration, sensor maintenance, quarterly data reports, and communicating results to the local community. Potential students should be highly self-motivated, comfortable speaking in public settings and have a strong background in environmental science.  Preference will be given to applicants with experience in air quality and air quality measurements.



This position is slated to begin in the second summer session or fall semester. The position will be supported by stipends through teaching assistantships and two semesters of tuition funding with the potential for continued tuition support.
