JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
A full-time, non-tenure track, fixed-term Assistant Research Professor position is available at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus, to join the Earth and Environmental Systems Institute. The successful candidate will work on currently funded research and will have experience with spectroscopy on weathering minerals, X-ray diffraction and whole rock analysis, neutron scattering on weathering minerals, and weathering models.
The position will include field work monitoring water and implementing seismic experiments, and the successful candidate will have experience in both. The successful candidate may also teach graduate and undergraduate students in informal research settings.
This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with possibility of refunding. The start date could be as early as September, 2020, but before January, 2021. The position provides unique opportunities for research, education, outreach, and professional development.
The successful candidate will enjoy ample opportunities for transdisciplinary research collaboration, as well as professional mentoring by a team of experts in relevant disciplines and will be expected to work with multiple investigators whose expertise can be brought to bear on research problems.
A Ph.D. in geosciences or a closely related field and at least one year of postdoctoral experience is required. Candidates should include a letter of interest and a CV with their application.
