Job Description
The Department of Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (OEAS) at Old Dominion University seeks candidates with research interests in coastal geology, hydrogeology, or coastal geomorphology for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting in Fall 2020. Research interests can include wetland hydrogeology, coastal sedimentology and geomorphology, and landscape evolution.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent and externally funded research program, contribute to teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute to interdisciplinary research activities. Exceptional candidates may be considered for appointment at the Associate Professor level.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Expertise in either observational measurements or numerical modeling techniques is required. The preferred candidate will be comfortable working across research disciplines in geology and oceanography, including field-based studies, and potentially collaborating with faculty involved in ODU's climate change, sea level rise and coastal resilience initiatives. Excellence in oral and written communication is required.
Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Earth or Ocean Science or a related field as well as one or more years of postdoctoral experience.
