The climate risks and preparedness group at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School is recruiting a PhD student and a postdoctoral scholar. Further information follows below. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact me directly (kmach at miami.edu<mailto:kmach at miami.edu>).

The climate risks and preparedness research group: Climate change poses complex risks for people and nature. We study interacting hazards including extreme heat, sea level rise, and flooding during storms and high tides. Our research group develops and applies innovative approaches to integrating evidence and informing effective and equitable responses to the risks. Ongoing areas of research include climate migration and retreat, equitable adaptation in built environments, climate and security, and actionable knowledge and assessment. https://climateprep.rsmas.miami.edu/index.html

For both the PhD and postdoctoral recruitment, there is flexibility in the research pursued. We seek proposals for projects that can complement and extend existing areas of work. Candidates need to have strong interests or capabilities in relevant research methods, which could include decision and policy analysis, qualitative inquiry through ethnography or surveys, climate impact modeling, spatial science (e.g., remote sensing, GIS), or statistical computing and data science techniques.
