The Rice University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (https://cee.rice.edu/ <https://cee.rice.edu/>) invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in the broad area of Resilient Urban Systems. We seek candidates with deep foundational expertise and an interest in interdisciplinary research to enhance the resilience of future smart cities and infrastructure systems under chronic and acute stressors. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: (1) natural hazards and climate impacts, including urban hydrology, water resources, coastal hydrodynamics, and coastal hazards adaptation and mitigation; (2) smart/adaptive-systems and advanced sensing including computer vision, intelligent infrastructure, statistical learning, data analytics and data fusion in future cities; (3) life-cycle engineering, and the assessment and design of resilient structures and systems; (4) complex systems modeling, socio-technical systems analysis, and topology optimization.

Please see the attachment for more details. Review of the applications will begin November 1, 2019.
