The Environmental Fluid Mechanics group (https://depts.washington.edu/uwefm)
at the University of Washington is seeking a graduate student (MS with
option to extend to PhD) interested in coastal wave dynamics beginning
summer/fall 2020. The student will perform drifter measurements (
http://www.apl.washington.edu/swift), numerical modeling, and analysis of
wave breaking processes as part of DUNEX (
https://uscoastalresearch.org/dunex), a collaboration to study coastal
processes during extreme events including hurricanes. The student will be
advised by Jim Thomson (jthomson at apl.washington.edu), Morteza Derahkti (
derakhti at uw.edu), and Melissa Moulton (mmoulton at uw.edu). Interested
candidates should contact us by email and apply to UW’s program in Civil
and Environmental Engineering by December 15, 2019 (
https://www.ce.washington.edu/future/grad).
