Your Opportunity

The role of the Geologist, Environmental Scientist, or Environmental Engineer is to perform tasks and task management assignments associated with environmental assessments, subsurface investigations, remediation, and monitoring projects; sampling of soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater; oversight of subcontractors; production of maps; data interpretation/evaluation and deliverable preparation.

Your Key Responsibilities

*        Assist with the implementation and management of environmental site assessment projects

*        Preparing project deliverables including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, quarterly progress reports, work plans, sampling and analysis plans, remedial action plans and closure documents, in whole or in part, depending on the size and complexity of the document

*        Developing tables and figures using analytical data and topographic/site maps

*        Responsible for coordinating with subcontractors (such as analytical laboratories, private locators, and drillers) while performing office assignments

*        Periodic to extensive field work may be required, including Phase I ESA site visits, ground water sampling, environmental drilling, and windshield surveys

*        Experience with construction oversight, remediation system operation and maintenance activities is a plus, but not required

*        Prepare environmental permits and reports, conduct and/or lead field work, and manage existing and/or new projects

*        Provides hands-on service to our clientele, working with engineers and planners on environmental assessments and construction monitoring, and post approval permitting

*        Ensuring QA/QC and H&S requirements and procedures are identified and followed throughout a project's life cycle

*        Technical work, quality review of reports and presentations

*        Field work responsibilities may include GPS surveys, drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sampling, or community mapping.

*        Environmental regulatory and permitting responsibilities include identifying project-specific environmental regulatory requirements, coordinating with resource agency personnel, writing and reviewing technical reports, developing environmental permit applications, and facilitating successful environmental permitting of multiple and varied projects

*        Demonstrates sound application of established practices, standards and guidelines

*        Responsible for specific objectives and the achievement of results

*        May review work of junior staff

Your Capabilities and Credentials

*        Proficient in policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training, leads by example, and applies these policies and procedures as appropriate to their work

*        Solid skills in technical writing

*        Observe and develop skills in communications and technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, and government regulators and agencies.

*        Able to build strong relationships with key clients with respect to their technical area and the broader business objectives in their regions

*        Build and maintain productive professional and personal networking relationships

*        Drives collaborative efforts within the Business Center and beyond to deliver consistent, high quality and appropriately scoped technical work

*        At least three to five years of experience successfully executing technical aspects of small to medium projects

*        Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License.

*        OSHA HAZWOPER 40 certification required.

*        Prior to employment, this position will require the successful passing of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Geoscience, Engineering or Environmental Science.

Minimum 3 to 5 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience.

Combination of office work with prolonged sitting and computer work, and field oversight for projects of varying duration. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
