I sent this off earlier this semester, but after some internal discussions,
we are re-advertising it slightly differently, with a new deadline of
December 31, 2019. Note: this is a permanent, non tenure-tack lecturer
position.

Become part of a vibrant group of faculty in the Department of Geosciences
at Georgia State University – an institution recognized nationally for
leadership in innovation, research growth, and the academic success of
diverse populations. Our next hire at the rank of Lecturer, pending
budgetary approval, will play a central role in Geosciences’ contribution
to Georgia State’s strategic goal of ensuring that students from diverse
backgrounds can achieve academic and career success at high rates. To fill
this permanent, non-tenure-track position, we are excited to receive
applications from scholars whose expertise draws from physical geography or
a related field to teach introductory physical geography and/or geology
courses and to participate in the department’s initiative to develop
high-quality on-line course modules. The successful applicant will have
research and instructional strengths that contribute to the undergraduate
and graduate degree programs in Geosciences and a commitment to building a
diverse, welcoming environment for faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate
courses in introductory physical geography and introductory geology and
upper-level courses in the applicant’s area of expertise as well as
participating in service activities at the department, college, and
university levels.

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
• Ph.D. at time of hire

Preferred Qualifications
• A record of mentoring students of diverse backgrounds
• Experience developing on-line courses and/or lab exercises
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
• Experience lecturing large, introductory courses
