A post-doctoral research associate is sought within the Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading to develop global storylines of climate risk relevant to multi-sector vulnerabilities (food security, finance, international development, manufacturing, and coastal infrastructure), within the H2020 RECEIPT project, under the supervision of Professor Ted Shepherd. The storylines will reflect different global warming scenarios as well as different patterns of regional climate response, using common drivers to identify correlated risks following the approach of Zappa & Shepherd (2017). This is an exciting opportunity to work on climate dynamics within an inter-disciplinary context, at one of the leading centres worldwide for research in weather and climate.
You will have:
* A PhD or equivalent in meteorology or equivalent
* Strong quantitative skills in atmospheric data analysis
* Expertise in atmospheric circulation, regional climate change, and statistical inference
* A proven track record in excellent peer-reviewed publications
* Evidence of creativity and capability of independent thought
* Excellent writing and communication skills
Start date is 1 September 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Candidates for this position are asked to apply through the University of Reading website and to provide:
1) A curriculum vitae
2) A two-page synopsis of your research experience and interests, and why they make you a suitable candidate for this position
Closing date is 21 June 2019. Please see https://jobs.reading.ac.uk/displayjob.aspx?jobid=4983
