The CDC Foundation seeks a full-time Project Manager to lead the implementation of a project that aims to assess current capacity and future needs for climate-readiness in a subset of local health departments. The Project Manager will be responsible for conducting a landscape analysis of the capacity of health agencies to address the impacts of climate change on health and their corresponding resource needs. The Project Manager will also convene an expert group of stakeholders in the climate and health field to inform the assessment and will share expertise learned throughout the project by creating documents with recommendations for future work.

This is an outstanding opportunity to work with the nation's lead agency charged with protecting the public's health. The CDC Foundation offers a competitive salary and attractive benefits package. The position will be assigned to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Climate and Health Program. The individual will work at CDC's Chamblee Campus, 4770 Buford Hwy, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. This is a one-year position, with the possibility of extension, pending availability of project funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As the project manager, the field employee will work closely with CDC and other partners involved in the Climate and Health Program to develop a framework to assess the capacity of local health departments to address public health issues caused by a changing climate. Specifically, the selected candidate will:

1. Develop a rubric for assessing local health department needs.
2. Conduct assessments of the existing capacity and local needs of at least 20 urban health departments throughout the United States.
3. Synthesize existing information on local health departments' climate and health planning and adaptation capacity, their ability to identify and address health inequities related to climate change, and their current community partnerships.
4. Establish and convene an expert stakeholder group to provide guidance and input on the capacity-building assessment and work plan.
5. Provide a summary report of the input shared by the expert stakeholder group.
6. Recommend future programs and technical assistance opportunities to support local health departments as they address health impacts caused by climate change in their communities.
7. Create a repository of climate actions currently being undertaken in the jurisdictions being surveyed as part of the project.
8. Oversee the development of a best practices document that highlights successful programs discovered during the project period.
9. Work collaboratively to incorporate current and past work in the field into the project.
10. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Master's degree in public health or an associated field required.
2. Knowledge of and experience in climate change and health strongly preferred.
3. Experience working with community and diverse partners.
4. Experience or interest in working on diversity and inclusion efforts.
5. At least four (4) years of experience in public health program implementation or related experience.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as facilitation skills.
7. Highly detail oriented, collaborative within a diverse team, demonstrates a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
8. Expertise or experience conducting assessments and creating reports.
