Position Available: Postdoctoral Research Associate in Critical Zone Science and STEM Education/Outreach, University of Nebraska - Omaha
A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Department of Geography/Geology at the University of Nebraska - Omaha in the field of Critical Zone Science and STEM education. The position is 75% research and 25% percent teaching/outreach. The research associate will focus primarily on advancing critical zone science at UNO's Glacier Creek Preserve, a 400 ha watershed in Omaha investigating land use influences on critical zone structure and function. We are particularly interested in a research associate who could help in a research team environment to advance characterization and modeling efforts related to groundwater geochemistry and hydrology, carbon fluxes, dust inputs, geophysical surveys, or ecohydrology, although the exact scope of work is dependent on research experience and interests. Multiple opportunities exist for collaborations across the UNO and the University of Nebraska - Lincoln campus. Teaching/outreach duties may include teaching undergraduate or graduate courses (ideally targeted at pre-service or in-service science teachers) and helping to assist in the development of STEM undergraduate and graduate courses, educational projects, curriculum activities, and instructional modules that can take full advantage of the natural context of Glacier Creek Preserve, aligned with the candidate's expertise and interests. It is fully expected that the candidate will be productive in writing-inclusive of manuscripts and grant proposals. This position is a one-year contract with multi-year(s) renewal possible upon successful completion of year one.
